This minimally invasive surgical technique allows patients to potentially be discharged within a few hours. A small incision on the front of the hip makes the joint accessible for replacement without detaching any tendons. By moving muscles along their natural tissue planes, the arthritic joint is replaced with durable long-lasting bearings and titanium implants, which allow the bone to grow into them for potentially lifelong survival. This approach has quicker recovery with almost no restrictions, less pain, and more normal function shortly after hip replacement.

Mini Posterior Approach to Total Hip Replacement
Due to the severity of joint disease, this approach is recommended when minimally invasive anterior hip replacement is not an option, due to the severity of joint disease. Widely considered one of the simplest and easiest approaches with the greatest margin of safety, this approach gives direct access to the joint by separating muscle fibers as opposed to cutting them. With the mini posterior approach, muscle function is preserved, and no special equipment is needed.

In a total hip revision, the existing implants in the replaced hip have failed for various reasons, causing pain in the patient and immobility. The old, worn-out, or loose parts are removed when necessary and replaced with new implants to provide long-lasting durability with restored function and less pain.
